Four different contractors reached out this month asking for the same thing: "Can you make my site look like Halloween for October?" We said yes to all four. Here's what happened.
Why a seasonal reskin?
Your website is your hardest-working salesperson. It's open 24/7, never calls in sick, and costs $29 a month. But most contractor sites look exactly the same in July as they do in December — which means they feel static. Dead. Like nobody's home.
A seasonal reskin changes that. It tells every visitor: this business is active, this business is paying attention, this business is alive. It's not about being cute. It's about signaling that you're on top of things — and that signal converts.
What we changed
For each of the four contractors — a plumber, an HVAC company, a landscaper, and a renovation company — we made targeted changes that took about an hour each:
- Plumber: Swapped the hero banner for a dark orange-and-black theme. Added a "Spooky Plumbing Problems?" headline with a photo of a flooded basement (because pipe bursts don't care about holidays). The call-to-action changed from "Get a Free Estimate" to "Don't Get Haunted by Plumbing Issues — Book Now."
- HVAC: Orange accent colors, a falling-leaves animation in the hero, and a seasonal banner: "Winter is Coming. Is Your Heater Ready?" Linked to their heater tuneup booking page. Their tuneup bookings went up 40% in two weeks.
- Landscaper: Fall colors (deep red, burnt orange, amber). Featured their autumn leaf cleanup service front and center. Added a "Book Before the First Frost" countdown timer.
- Renovation company: Subtle — darkened the color scheme, added a "Spooky Season Home Check" section with a checklist of fall maintenance tasks (gutter cleaning, weatherstripping, furnace inspection). Each item linked to their relevant service.
Why it works
Contractors don't think of their website as something that changes. Most have a site, it was built once, and it sits there like a digital business card that never updates. But Google notices freshness. Customers notice freshness. And when your site reflects the season, it does something your competitor's static site doesn't do: it feels current.
Here's the thing — we didn't rebuild the site. We didn't change the structure, the navigation, or the content. We reskinned it. New hero image, new colors, new seasonal messaging. Total time per site: about an hour. Total cost: $0 extra (it's included in the $99/month Growth plan). Total impact: measurable.
The numbers
Two of the four tracked their calls before and after the reskin (they're on our Growth plan, so we handle their Google Analytics and call tracking). Results after two weeks:
- HVAC company: 40% increase in heater tuneup bookings
- Landscaper: 25% increase in leaf cleanup service requests
We didn't have clean before/after data for the plumber and renovation company yet, but both reported that customers mentioned the seasonal changes on calls.
Should you do this?
If your website hasn't changed since the day it was built, you're leaving money on the table. Seasonal reskins are one of the easiest, lowest-cost ways to signal that your business is active and relevant. And when you're on our Growth plan, we handle it for you — Halloween, Thanksgiving, winter, spring, whenever the season shifts.
The next seasonal window is Thanksgiving. We're already sketching ideas for our Growth clients: "Grateful for Warmth" campaigns for HVAC, "Pre-Thanksgiving Drain Cleaning" for plumbers (the #1 day for kitchen plumbing disasters), and "Get Your Home Ready for Guests" for renovators.
Want this for your business?
Seasonal reskins are included in our $99/month Growth plan, along with Google Business Profile management, review generation, local SEO, and monthly performance reports. See pricing or book a call and we'll get you set up before the next holiday hits.
